HO Ho Ho

Yes fellow  twangers!  it's  that  time  of  the  year....  time  for  egg   nogg  and  candy,  relatives  that  you  have  avoided all  year... and  ah  yes,  that  elusive  tele  that  you've  been  asking  santa  for.  So  the  question is...  if  you  could recieve  a  nice  new  tele  under  the  tree ,  which  model  of  tele  would  you  want...  Me.. I  would  ask  for  the  new select  tele.

Merry  Christmas  and  as  always

Leo's Night Before Christmas

          Leo's Night Before Christmas

Twas the nite before christmas, and all through the house

The ghost of Leo fender, was lurking like a mouse

The amps were all covered, with their tubes still a glow

From he midnight jam, and the party we did throw.

The teles and strats were all snug in their cases,

While still in their stands stood a few P-basses.

The party was over and I in my bed,

was dreaming of woodstock, and the greatful ol dead.

I saw hendrix, and joplin just to name a short few,

and hippies galore drinking ol mountain dew.

The sound was heaven as it blasted from the amps,

I know in the background I saw few Fender champs.

With a twitch and a yawn I woke from my slumber

As I heard a loud noise, that begin with a thunder

.
I jumped from my bed to see what was the matter,

and tripped over my pedals and fell in with a clatter.

I crawled to the top of the steps still adazed

and saw with my eyes, a sight  full of amaze.

Stevie was shredding some blues that was on fire

while bohnom and  'Duck' Dunn raised the bar ever so higher.

Leo was smiling as he watched with a grin,

while Joplin sang her butt off again and again.

Gatton was ripping those rockabilly leads,

and Holly was grinning on this cool christmas eve.

And just as it began it all ended in a hurry,

for Leo was leaving in curious kinda flurry.

He looked over the gear and said with a smile

These cats will do fine .... the sound should be wild!.

Into the night they all flew in a flash,

I jumped from my crouch in a bounding big dash
.
I woke up the guys and told what I'd seen,

and they said lay off the booze ...go get some ice tea.

I walked down the stairs and couldn't help wonder,

why no one believed me, It was no drunken blunder.

When a tap on my shoulder gave me a surprise,

It was Leo himself with a gleam in his eyes

Merry christmas kid, he said with a grinn,

It's time for your life, now to begin.

Music is power it gives and it takes,

Just believe in the sound, and the memories you'll make.

Keep shredding!  keep learning!

as he walked out of sight,

Play on! play on! Merry christmas and good night.

Friday Night Lights

It's  Friday,  and  as  always  I  am  sure  that  there  is  a  ton  of  you  out  there  who  are  getting  ready  for  a  show. The  question  is....  What  gear  are  you  using. I  always  try  to  have  a  setup  for  each  venue.  If  small  I  go  with  an amp  that  will  be  more  pleasing ,than  ripping  to  the  pallette.  For  the  big  venues  of  course...  we  go  all  out.  I prefer  to  it  simple  just  for  the  sake  of  teardown  and  less  to  mess  with  at  the  end  of  the  night... But...... still keeping  the  best  sound  that  I  can  possibly  give. So  with  that  said...  anyone  care  to  chime  in  on  what  gear  setup  they  are  going  to  use  tonite?  Have  a  great  show ,  be  safe  and  as  always

I  was  wondering  what  gauge  of  strings  are  most  faveored  amoung  tele  players.  I  have  for  the  most  part  used Fender  orig/10's  on  mine  and  Fender  orig/9's  on  my  strat.  Do  you  have  a  certain  brand  or  gauge  that  you prefer...  chime  in  and  give your  oppinion.

Relic Tele

Ok...  so  you've  seen  those  ancient  looking  Tele's  that  look  like  they've  been  drug  from  hotel to  hotel.  Drug  behind  a  tour  bus  in  St.Cloud ...  and  you  say..  man  if  that  Tele  could  talk  the  stories  it  would  tell.  Right?    Well  if  you  could  do  a  relic  job  on  your  own  Tele.   How would  you  do  it.  How  much  would  you  relieve  it?  Would  you  just  scrape  it  up  some  or would  you  wear  the  neck  finish  down.. etc....
                                   Happy  Twangin

Do You Remember Your First Tele?

Do  you Rememeber  your  first  Tele.  Be  it  a  copy  or  a real Tele?  I  do.  It  was  one  that  my  dad  had  been  playin  on.  LOL  I  thought  it  was  an  old  geezer  guitar!  I  was  playing  a  72  Les Paul  standard.  It  was  heavey lol  But  I liked  the light  Tele  and  it  sounded  neat.  I  kept  it and  gave  him  the  Les Paul,  and  never  looked  back.  It  was  a  standard  Tele  but  I  fell  in  love  with  it  and  kept  it  for  many  years  until  it  was  taken  out  of  a  club  that  I  had  been  playing. Care  to  share  a  story  about  your  first  Tele.

Fave Tele Player

Out of all the players who have graced us with their talent.. Who is your fave Tele player. I like James Burton, Danny Gatton,Brent Mason to name some of my faves...Who is yours?
                          Happy Twangin

If you could .... which would you play

Going back through my mind, I remember all of those late night discussions in those smoke filled bars, after the door have closed, and all of the drunks have found someone to take home , or just annoy for a night ...lol We musicians would talk about the ultimate guitar or which one we would play if we could or had a chance. Some of my twang buddys always stay traditional, and say.. I'd play a 52 Tele, or a 69 Tele... Do you have a preferance in which Tele you would play if you could? I'd say myself I would stick with the James Burton and be happy.  How bout you?

The new Classic Fender Vibe series Telecasters

Just wondering if anyone would be so kind as to chime in on the new Fender vibe teles. I bpought one and to be honest, it's an amazing guitar for the money. I bought the 60's model double bound tele and it looks and plays great.  It has an awesome neck, worthy of a U.S.A Tele and it's just an all round great guitar. Now as far as the sound... It has a great sound, but remember , there is a great differance in the price of an American Tele and the Vibe series. But if you are jammin with friends or evan a recording session or a nice venue, these little scamps will shine for you. Let me know how you like yours, or if you have had a chance to take one for  a ride .... Happy Twangin

Josh opened up Hot Rods shortly after Chris' guitar shop closed. He has been overwhelmed by the patronage of the locals. Stop in and see him and say Tony said hello. He is a great guy and a great addition to the moreheadKy. area. Happy Twangin!

Your Fave Tele

I have a question. Do you have a fave Tele, or do you just like them all. lol . I favor my 1993 James Burton. Now, I have another that is the Red paisley on black, but It is a bit heavey. Love the lace sensors, and the 5 way switch. It just seems like it is an all around workhorse. I also love my 69 , but hey.. I just love'em all lol. Let me know what your preferance is. Happy Twangin!
